Chesapeake Press Author Now a TEDx Speaker

May 25, 2021 - Can books be a superpower? Writer and podcaster Kitty Felde thinks so.

Felde, writer of The Fine Mendoza Mysteries series, published by Chesapeake Press, delivered her first TEDx Talk at UCLA on May 15th. Her topic: Books Are My Superpower…And They Can be Yours, Too.

Felde is creator and host of the Book Club for Kids podcast, named one of the top 10 kidcasts in the world by The Times of London. She’s talked to more than 500 kids about books since she launched the podcast in 2015. (The show has won the DC Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Humanities and the California Library Association’s Technology Award.)

In her TEDx Talk, Felde says we often miss the opportunity to have a truly deep conversation with another human being who just happens to be three feet tall. In other words: kids. She talks about how a book can open the door to create a safe space for real conversations with kids.

Felde’s newest book in The Fina Mendoza Mysteries series State of the Union will be released August 13, 2021. If you wish to arrange an interview with Kitty Felde, please contact Marie Daley at chesapeakepress@gmail.com or at 202-596-1993.
